Authors, Is it Time?

What does Books and Pens on Green Gables do during a manuscript review?

A manuscript review is often the first time an author has another set of eyes on their newest work.

When Books and Pens does a manuscript review, we'll begin with several questions.

A few of those include:

  • What stage of writing is your manuscript in?

  • What is the genre?

  • Who is your audience?

  • What is the tone you want your book to convey?

  • And, more!

Once I receive your manuscript, I will do a thorough reading, making notes as I go. I will note things such as:

  • Where were strong points/weaker points?

  • Did the character descriptions let me know who was who shortly after meeting them?

  • Did the tone fit with the genre/audience it was meant for?

  • Did I get confused by any of the details?

  • Were there too many characters to keep track of?

  • Were there areas that need more details to help them stand out?

  • And, more!

Once I have completed reading the manuscript, we'll meet via video to talk about it. Before this consultation, I'll send you the complete report so we can go through it together.

I look forward to working with you! Please contact me with questions! janell@bpongreen.com
