French Braid by Anne Tyler

"Every family has a story. French Braid will resonate with many because it feels real and it's so refreshing to read. Every word was perfect!"- Books and Pens on Green Gables

French Braid by Anne Tyler

It all begins at a train station and, perhaps, seeing her cousin. But Serena isn't sure—she's not seen him enough times to be sure. Her boyfriend can't understand this. How does she not know her cousin in a crowd? When James continues talking about this, the story of Serena's family unfolds.

Readers will become engrossed in the lives of the Garrett family: Robin, Mercy, Alice, Lily, and David. The story begins on their first family vacation, and their diverse personalities are revealed. Mom and Dad come across as very opposite, as do teenagers, Alice and Lily. Younger David is content on his own with his imagination.

The book travels through the years in the lives of the family. An empty nest, weddings, births, successes, and a lot of change. It takes us through conflicts and misunderstandings, spoken and unspoken.

French Braid will be added to my list of books I always recommend! A five-star novel!
