During the Busy

Christmas time is busy! Take some time to be you.

The thought of getting our Christmas things out and put up in our house overwhelmed me. So, my husband, who is amazing, talked me through it.

Did we need to decorate? (yes.)

Did we need to do as much as usual? (no.)

Do we really need the garland on the stairs? (no.)

Does it need to be done all in one day? (no.)

Does every room need decorations? (enormous no!)

And, ta-da! The house is decorated, except for getting our tree. I did it in a few one-hour segments as my husband made dinner.

Do I like how it looks? Yes.

Is it going to win any awards from Better Homes and Gardens? No.

Did I put out things that I enjoy seeing? Yes.

I really enjoyed seeing our Christmas treasures again!

I'm not going to go into the busyness of the gifts, the wrapping, the baking, etc.

But, I will say I am wrapping gifts as the UPS delivery person brings them. And, if I bake (a really big if) it will be very basic. My mom and sister bake tons every year and always send cookies home with us.

I WILL make my caramel rolls, though! Our kids love them!

Let me know if you want the recipe!

So in the busyness of it all, I hope you can take some time for yourself.

Breathe, go for a walk, read or listen to an audiobook for a distraction. Connect with friends. Ask for help. Break it down into smaller segments. You matter. You deserve to enjoy the holidays, too. Take a break during "the busy" to just be you. Because you're pretty great!
