A Nearly Normal Family – by M.T. Edvardsson

This is an Advanced Reading Copy that I got in the mail from Celadon Books. It is always so much fun to get an unexpected book in the mail! I really like the style this book is written in. Part one is Dad’s perspective, Part 2-Stella’s and Part 3 is Mom’s point of view. Well written, a book that I’ll be thinking about for a while…4 stars!-Janell

“I have a theory that the psychologists loved our family. A Pastor, a lawyer and a maladjusted teen. We could serve as textbook examples in their manuals”-daughter, Stella.

A Nearly Normal Family is about a typical family. Dad is a Pastor, Mom is a Criminal Defense Attorney and their teenage daughter Stella has just been accused of murder. Stella and her parents have had their difficulties, as many parents and teens do, but they know Stella could not, would not, ever hurt someone. Her parents are stunned when she is put in jail and they can’t even see her. Mom starts to questions some things Dad does. Dad questions Mom’s actions…how far will a parent go to protect their child? As they find out more about what Stella is accused of, they start to wonder if they even know her. Did she do this? Wasn’t she with her best friend that night? Was she really involved with this older man? This is a book that makes you think about many different things. What if you like your daughters best friend more than you like your daughter? What if your daughter seems to be the opposite of what you ever thought your child would be? How do you handle it if you and your spouse disagree on how to parent her? What if your child ends up in jail? What will you do to save her?
